L.I. Man, 23, Charged With Attempting Murder in Hempstead Firing

When the accused youth was being arrested, an Assistant District Attorney told the judge that a Freeport resident had gone up to some buddies who were hanging out at Hempstead High School on Friday afternoon. He suddenly fired a shot, aiming it accurately at one of the group members.

The unidentified victim quickly went to Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, where he got rapid surgery and emergency medical attention for his terrible gunshot wounds. According to the authorities, his condition has already stabilized.

When Judge Anthony Paradiso on Saturday afternoon, Jairo Crespin Cornejo, 23, submitted an appeal of not guilty. Along with other felonies, he is accused of attempting murder.
