Tom Kingsbury, the CEO of Kohl’s, understands the challenging nature of this decision and recognizes the importance of taking necessary actions to support the well-being and future of the company. He emphasizes that while they are focused on their long-term growth strategy, they also need to prioritize the health and success of their business for the benefit of their customers and employees.
Kohl’s has already informed all impacted employees and is providing them with two options: either they can opt for severance packages or they can choose to apply for other positions available within the company.
As part of a larger plan, Kohl’s will be closing several of its stores, including its San Bernardino E-commerce Fulfillment Center in California, which will cease operations when its lease ends in May 2025.
Kohl’s, despite the closures, is still dedicated to its profitable store base. The retailer currently has more than 1,150 locations across the country and is actively investing in enhancing its smaller-format stores as well as its digital shopping experience.
