Julión Álvarez Forced to Postpone Texas Concert After U.S. Visa Is Revoked

Mexican music star Julión Álvarez has been forced to postpone his much-anticipated concert in Arlington, Texas, after the U.S. government revoked his work visa, leaving thousands of fans stunned and disappointed. The show was scheduled to take place at AT&T Stadium this weekend, but the singer announced on Instagram that he and his band would not be able to enter the country.

According to Álvarez, part of his production team had already arrived in Texas to prepare for the event when they were informed that the visas had been canceled. “We were ready,” he told fans in a video. “Everything was set. But unfortunately, we got the news that our visas were revoked. We can’t travel right now.”

The U.S. State Department has not released an official reason for the decision, citing privacy policies that prevent them from discussing individual visa cases.

Not the First Time Álvarez Has Faced Visa Problems

This isn’t the first time Álvarez has run into issues with U.S. authorities. Back in 2017, he was accused by the U.S. Treasury Department of having ties to Mexican drug trafficker Raúl Flores Hernández. Álvarez has always denied the allegations, claiming that a business deal involving a property purchase was misinterpreted.

Though the accusations were never proven in court, the sanctions led to his removal from streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music in the U.S., and his visa was also revoked. It wasn’t until 2022 that the Treasury Department officially cleared him, and he was finally allowed to resume performing and sharing music in the States.

Earlier this year, fans were thrilled when Álvarez returned to the U.S. stage in Arizona. The Arlington concert was supposed to be another major step in his comeback tour.

What Could Be Behind the Visa Revocation Now?

While no official reason has been given, some speculate that Álvarez’s situation may be tied to recent crackdowns on certain Mexican artists. In April, members of the regional Mexican band Los Alegres del Barranco also had their U.S. visas revoked after displaying images during a performance that were linked to criminal groups.

In that case, the performers showed a photo of Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes, the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which the U.S. has designated a terrorist organization. The appearance of that image raised red flags, and visa consequences followed shortly after.

So far, there’s no evidence that Álvarez was involved in anything similar, but the climate surrounding Mexican artists performing in the U.S. has clearly become more sensitive.

What Happens Next?

Álvarez told fans that the Arlington concert will be rescheduled, and that tickets will still be valid for the new date. While the situation is frustrating, he said he remains optimistic and is doing everything possible to resolve the visa issue quickly.

“We’re heartbroken,” he said in the video. “We know how much people were looking forward to this concert. We were too.”

The singer also thanked his fans for their patience and support. “I’m grateful to all of you who have stood by me,” he said. “This isn’t the end. We’ll be back soon.”

While no new date has been announced, Álvarez and his team are working closely with U.S. immigration attorneys to understand what caused the visa revocation and how to move forward. For now, fans will have to wait a little longer to see their beloved artist back on stage in Texas.
