Authorities have located the silver 2009 Mercedes GL 450 believed to have been driven by the suspect, Pedro Argote, in the tragic killing of Maryland Circuit Court Judge Andrew Wilkinson

Washington County Sheriff Brian Albert revealed that there is a possibility the car may have been abandoned there the previous week. He emphasized the need to thoroughly search the extensive area, spanning hundreds of acres, though it’s acknowledged that Argote may not be in the vicinity. Officials assured the community that there was no immediate danger.

During a press conference, Sheriff Albert expressed confidence in apprehending the 49-year-old suspect, stating, “We’re going to catch this guy. It’s just a matter of time”

He urged residents to steer clear of the search area and encouraged anyone with pertinent information to contact local law enforcement. Argote stands accused of fatally shooting Judge Andrew Wilkinson on Thursday evening outside his residence on Olde Waterford Road in Hagerstown. Reports confirm that the judge’s wife and son were present in the family home during the tragic incident. Responding deputies pronounced Judge Andrew Wilkinson deceased at Meritus Medical Center. Records from Washington County court reveal that Judge Andrew Wilkinson presided over a judgment hearing related to Argote’s 2022 divorce case on the very day of the incident, with the next hearing scheduled for October 31.
