The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a news release stating that deputies responded to a residence on Highway 74 after receiving a distress call on June 28 at approximately 4:45 a.m.
Joseph Fogle, a 38-year-old man, has been taken into custody following allegations of fatally beating his 43-year-old wife, Sonia Escalante-Baca, over two weeks ago
Upon arrival, authorities discovered the lifeless body of Escalante-Baca in a bed, indicating blunt force trauma as the cause of death.
Based on substantial evidence gathered during the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office identified Joseph Fogle, the victim’s husband, as the primary suspect. Joseph Fogle himself had contacted officials on June 28 to report his wife’s demise. During an interview, Joseph Fogle informed detectives that he had left the residence to get breakfast, and upon his return, Joseph Fogle discovered his wife deceased.
Law enforcement investigators suspect that Joseph Fogle employed a weapon during the assault on his wife. Consequently, Joseph Fogle has been arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of second-degree murder.
Records from Parker County, Texas indicate that Joseph Fogle had previously been convicted of aggravated kidnapping
Joseph Fogle used his influence over a woman he was acquainted with to manipulate her into providing transportation but then proceeded to forcibly abduct her at knifepoint while she was restrained with handcuffs.
The community has been profoundly affected by Joseph Fogle’s arrest and the tragic death of Sonia Escalante-Baca. Joseph Fogle will be confronted with severe charges, while the community grieves the premature loss of a life.
