What truly stirred controversy was the “Free fentanyl 4 new users” sign he boldly displayed, asserting the authenticity of this offer, much like his “Meth for stolen items!” sign.

The local news scene was abuzz this week when a homeless man, Joseph Adam Moore, made headlines for erecting an unusually large sidewalk encampment at Geary Boulevard and Ninth Avenue

Adding to the outrage of nearby residents, Joseph Adam Moore, a 46-year-old individual, had a 1997 sex offender registry charge for “Lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age” on his record. His encampment, situated across from a K-8 school, a church, and just a block away from an SF Public Library, exacerbated concerns.

Joseph Adam Moore’s reign of potential free fentanyl distribution has come to a temporary halt, according to a report by The Chronicle. Although the specific charges leading to his Friday morning arrest were not disclosed, the arrest resulted from an undercover investigation initiated by Captain Chris Canning of the Richmond District police station. Curiously, there were no immediate reports of drug-related charges against Moore. The SF Standard and KGO’s Dan Noyes were present to capture images and footage of the morning operation, hinting at possible cooperation with the authorities.

The SF Police Department’s original intention was to issue Joseph Adam Moore a nuisance misdemeanor citation and release him at the scene

However, things took a different turn when Joseph Adam Moore attempted to move his belongings back while the Department of Public Works was clearing the area. Consequently, he was arrested for “violating a stay-away order” about his probation, as reported by the Standard. In any case, Joseph Adam Moore’s encampment has been cleared, bringing relief to the Inner Richmond community.

Supervisor Connie Chan, representing the district, stated, “A person who threatens the safety of our community has no place on our streets” after confirming that the area had been cleaned and cleared of obstructions.

The situation regarding Moore’s current custody status remains unclear. While he was seemingly taken into custody, jail records for SF County do not confirm his status, with The Chronicle reporting that “As of 1 p.m. Moore was being booked with charges pending.”
