Throughout the latest GOP debate, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley made news by referring to the exclusion of transgender women from women’s sports as the “women’s struggle of our time.”
Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House news secretary, was questioned by Fox Business journalist Hillary Vaughn on Monday about whether the Joe Biden administration approved of that position.
Pierre resisted using the term “women’s issue” and described the conversation as “complicated.”
“So, we’ve discussed this extensively. This is particularly Title XI. Look, we’ve discussed this several times already. There are many different viewpoints on this complex topic. As you are aware, the Department of Education has introduced a rule that allows schools to choose their own athletics programs while also introducing safeguards to stop discrimination against transgender children, Jean-Pierre added.
