Taking to Instagram on July 28, Jimmie Johnson conveyed his family’s devastation over the profound loss of Lynn, Jack, and Dalton Janway. The overwhelming love and support they received during this unimaginably sorrowful time have humbled them, and they remain appreciative of all the compassion shown to them.
The tragic events unfolded on June 26 when the Muskogee Police Department received a distressing 911 call reporting a disturbance and the presence of a gun at the Janway’s home. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a deceased individual lying in the hallway near the front door. Soon after, another gunshot was heard from inside the house.

The victims were identified as Jack, 69, Terry, 68, and their 11-year-old grandson, Dalton. Dalton was the nephew of Jimmie Johnson and his wife, Chandra Janway. Chandra is the daughter of Jack and Terry Janway.
Jimmie Johnson, who retired from NASCAR in 2020, had embarked on a new racing career with IndyCar’s Chip Ganassi Racing, participating in 29 races between the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
