Following a gunshot in Aiken County early on Monday, 20-year-old Jatavious Harris is dead.
According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, Batesburg resident Jatavious Harris passed away from a gunshot wound.
At 1:20 a.m. According to Capt. Eric Abdullah of the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, July 17, officers got a 911 report about a shooting in the 800 Block of Old Ninety Six Indian Trail.
According to a press release from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 caller reported gunfire on the 800 block of Old 96 Indian Trail near Batesburg shortly after one in the morning. Deputies saw Jatavious Harris on the floor with what appeared to be a gunshot wound when they got to the house.
Attempts to resuscitate Jatavious Harris were unsuccessful, and he died at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
Coroner Darryl Ables stated that an autopsy of Jatavious Harris will be performed in Newberry on Tuesday. Other injuries were not reported. There was no word on a shooter or shooters or any purpose for shooting and Killing Jatavious Harris.
Deputies suspect the bullets were fired from outside the house and came from the road. The sheriff’s office, which is investigating the shooting alongside the coroner’s office, has reported no arrests. The family of Jatavious Harris is now asking for the early loss of their loved one.
