In a disturbing incident, a Florida teacher named James Bellamy has been arrested and charged with child abuse and battery after a basketball game went wrong.

James Bellamy allegedly elbowed a 12-year-old student, resulting in the loss of a tooth, and threw the ball at the boy during the game

The incident came to light when officers responded to a call from the child’s mother, who claimed her son had been assaulted by a teacher at Putnam Academy of Arts and Sciences in Palatka. The mother had seen a video showing Bellamy engaging in a basketball game with her son. In the footage, Bellamy can be seen intentionally throwing the ball at the boy and later elbowing him in the mouth, causing the child to lose a tooth.

The young victim confirmed the events to the officers, explaining that Bellamy became angry, believing the child had intentionally struck his arm or head during the game.

James Bellamy, who admitted to the incident, is currently in custody with no bail at the local jail. Despite the severity of the situation, Putnam Academy of Arts and Sciences has not responded to Fox News Digital’s inquiries.
