Hunter Biden suffered a setback on Wednesday when a federal judge rejected his plea to virtually attend his first court appearance while he is being held on 3 felony firearms charges.
Following an indictment by a federal grand jury for crimes involving firearms, including a single charge of having a weapon in 2018 while abusing drugs, the president’s son, Joe Biden, is scheduled to be sentenced in person on Tuesday. Based on a statement from Special Counsel David Weiss, Hunter Biden might receive a sentence as long as twenty-five years.
The president’s son first showed up in federal court in Delaware in July to plead guilty to 2 tax misdemeanor offenses to avoid prosecution for a felony charge of illegally carrying a handgun while using drugs. However, the final agreement—which had received harsh criticism from Republicans—broke down in the middle of the hearing.
