HOUSTON (TCD) – A 32-year-old man is being held on suspicion of killing his 29-year-old common-law wife over the weekend.
According to a news release from the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a complaint of a shooting at 2020 Bentworth Drive on Sunday, June 11, at around 7:55 p.m., where they discovered a female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department pronounced the subject dead at the spot. Jasmine McHenry, according to KTRK-TV, was the victim.
Thomas Wilson Alexander, the suspect, was apprehended and placed in the Harris County Jail on the accusation of murder.
According to court documents obtained by KTRK, Alexander shot and killed McHenry in front of her 9-year-old daughter. According to reports, the youngster called her grandma, who immediately raced over to the residence.
According to McHenry’s daughter, “I told the police, ‘My stepdad shot my mom.'”
McHenry and Alexander are said to have a 3-year-old son.
According to Harris County Jail records, Alexander is being held on a $1 million bail. He is due to appear in court on June 14.
