A widow in Colorado Springs is seeking answers from the police regarding their alleged delayed response to a 911 call for help in a hostage situation involving her husband

According to Tali’Ja Campbell, she received text messages from her husband on June 2, including a photo of him in a car with an unfamiliar man, along with pleas for help stating “911” and “Send Please!” Worried for her husband’s safety, she dialed 911 but claims that the dispatcher did not convey a sense of urgency. Consequently, she decided to drive to the location he had shared.

While the Colorado Springs Police Department acknowledged receiving a 911 call, they declined to disclose further details due to an ongoing investigation. When the police arrived at the scene, less than a mile away from their headquarters, they discovered two deceased individuals. Qualin Campbell’s death is being treated as a homicide, while the other man’s death is being investigated as a suicide.

Tali’Ja Campbell, through her attorney Harry Daniels, is demanding answers from the police, asserting that a prompt response could have saved her husband’s life

She expressed concern that law enforcement officers did not arrive until approximately an hour after her husband’s distress call, during which time he had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the abdomen. Campbell had driven to the scene herself and found her husband lifeless in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. She immediately called for medical assistance and remained there until authorities arrived.

During a news conference, Tali’Ja Campbell tearfully recounted the harrowing experience, expressing frustration that she was the one providing medical aid to her husband instead of the arriving officers. Attorney Harry Daniels and his client are seeking information on the number of available officers during the time of the 911 call and the prioritization of other calls. They assert that this incident was a clear hostage situation where Qualin Campbell’s life was at stake.
