The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office reported that on Sunday, December 4, 2022, around 11:36 a.m., deputies were called to the vicinity of Alamo and Boriana Mine roads after an individual operating a side-by-side vehicle stumbled upon a homicide victim.

Authorities have finally determined the identity of a homicide victim whose body was discovered wrapped in a tarp in an isolated desert region last year

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers uncovered a deceased homicide victim enveloped in a tarp near a substantial accumulation of debris. The homicide victim’s remains were subsequently transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office for a comprehensive examination. However, efforts to ascertain the homicide victim’s identity proved unsuccessful.

In February, the Sheriff’s Office released additional details about the homicide victim, providing information on his attire, accessories, and physical characteristics, yet their attempts to establish a positive identification yielded no results.

Months later, on July 12, the Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with Othram Inc., made a significant breakthrough by positively identifying the victim as 50-year-old Brandon Parlanti

Authorities reportedly sent a sample of the remains to Othram Inc., which conducted an extensive genetic genealogy investigation utilizing advanced DNA testing and Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing to determine the homicide victim.

Although the Sheriff’s Office did not disclose whether any suspects have been identified in connection with the case, they have urged anyone with relevant information about the homicide victim to come forward.
