Homicide Suspect Michael Burham Still Believed to be in Northwestern Pennsylvania, Reward Doubles

In the past 24 hours, items that are possibly connected to Michael Burham have been discovered, leading investigators to conclude that he has not left the vicinity.

Michael Burham, a homicide suspect who escaped from a jail in northwestern Pennsylvania using bedsheets last week, is believed to still be in the area

Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police stated that campsites and small stockpiles believed to be linked to the escapee have been found, indicating a likelihood of Michael Burham’s presence in the area.

Bivens, speaking at a news conference in Youngsville, Pennsylvania, emphasized that despite efforts to locate Michael Burham, no confirmed connection has been established between him and possible sightings or break-ins. However, he expressed a strong belief that Michael Burham is receiving assistance and warned anyone involved that they would face prosecution.

To aid in the search, the reward money for information leading to Michael Burham’s capture has more than doubled, with a $10,000 contribution from Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers. The total reward now stands at $19,500, with the U.S. Marshals Service and Warren County Crime Stoppers also offering sums. Over 200 law enforcement officers at the state, federal, and local levels are actively participating in the manhunt.

Michael Burham is the primary suspect in the killing of Kala Hodgkin and an associated arson case in Jamestown, New York, according to District Attorney Jason Schmidt of Chautauqua County. Authorities also accuse Michael Burham of abducting an elderly couple in Pennsylvania prior to his arrest in South Carolina.

The search for Michael Burham has encompassed a large area with challenging terrain, including cabins, sheds, and shacks that could provide potential hiding places. With the use of K-9 units, drones, and aircraft, law enforcement agencies continue their extensive efforts to apprehend Michael Burham, who is considered highly dangerous due to his self-taught survival skills and military reserve training.
