In his ongoing legal struggle with the federal government, Republican Texas governor Greg Abbott gained a major victory on Wednesday when a district judge decided to reject the Biden administration’s allegations at the governor’s request.
Conservatives like Abbott have put demands on the president and his administration to take greater steps to strengthen border security and prevent illegal immigration as the number of migrants entering the country has increased in current months.
This summer, the Texas governor built a 1,000-foot wall in the Rio Grande to prevent migrants from entering the border community of Eagle Pass, which caused a great deal of controversy and criticism. The barrier, which consists of a row of buoys the size of wrecking balls separated by sharp discs, has drawn criticism from human rights organizations, Texas Democrats, and Mexican officials.
