Joined by Mayor Eric Adams and faith leaders, Gov. Kathy Hochul assured the public that there is currently no imminent threat to the city. Nevertheless, in anticipation of planned protests and Hamas’ global call to action, an increased number of uniformed NYPD officers will be stationed across public, private, and religious institutions, including Jewish neighborhoods. Schools will remain open, both public and private.

NYPD Chief of Patrol John Cell affirmed that the entire department will be on standby in uniform to maintain peace during the protests.
Similar security enhancements are being implemented in Washington, D.C., and cities like Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, and Los Angeles. The FBI is collaborating with law enforcement agencies nationwide, urging the public to report any suspicious activities. They assure that all potential threats will be thoroughly investigated.
