George Washington, Columbus, and numerous other statues could be demolished in New York City

New York City’s authorities are debating removing the George Washington statues and forming a reparations task group as a financial storm builds over the city and deals with a severe migrant issue.

Based on Fox News, the city council was expected to discuss proposals on Tuesday that may fundamentally alter how the city interacts with its past, possibly the removal of sculptures of popular Americans.

A public hearing was scheduled to be held by the council’s Cultural Affairs Committee on a major proposal to have artwork removed from public spaces if it “depicts an individual who managed those who were enslaved or profited financially from slavery, or who engaged in systemic crimes towards indigenous individuals or other offenses against humanity.”
