According to the district attorney in his interview with CNN last Friday, Francisco Oropeza, a Mexican national, is now on the verge of facing the death penalty after being charged with killing five people in a Texas home.
Francisco Oropeza, the 38-year-old man who has been suspected and charged with five counts of murder that could have him face the death penalty was caught last Tuesday according to the authorities.
In their report, the root cause of this mass shooting is when Francisco Oropeza was asked by his neighbor to stop firing his rifle because it could wake a baby. This simple request led Oropeza to shoot to death five people, including the 9-year-old victim.
San Jacinto County District Attorney Todd Dillon informed that the decision has not been made for Francisco Oropeza even though the prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
“It’s a little too early for us to make that call,” Dillon said. “There is no decision yet whether we will seek the death penalty (for Francisco Oropeza) because the defense has not had an opportunity to present any mitigation evidence for the state to consider.”
The bond was set for the alleged attacker, Francisco Oropeza, in May with a total of $7.5 million.
According to their own report, CNN has reached out to Francisco Oropeza’s attorney Anthony Osso to defend their side
200 mass shootings have been recorded across the US so far this year. As Francisco Oropeza has committed, it is a brutal crime when an attacker injures or kills multiple individuals. The death penalty could be faced by someone who has done this horrendous act of violence.
