Former Police Officer Receives Additional Charge After Fatally Shooting Black Man During Domestic Abuse Investigation

A former police officer identified as Alexander Tyler received an additional charge after fatally shooting a Black man during a domestic abuse investigation, wherein the former police officer and a fellow police officer were responding to the report of the victim’s wife of the alleged abuse.

According to a report published in US News, the former police officer was charged with felony malfeasance, in addition to negligent homicide which the former police officer was initially charged with for fatally shooting the victim named Alonzo Bagley during the investigation.

In a video released, the former police officer was seen running and shooting the victim in his chest when the victim tried to flee by jumping from the apartment’s balcony to prevent being arrested by the former police officer, leading to his tragic death.

Former Police Officer Faces Two Charges After Fatally Shooting Black Man During Investigation

Following the tragic incident, the victim’s family sued the former police officer for $10 million after murdering the Black man and not giving him a chance to live, AP News reported.

The former police officer faced two charges for fatally shooting the man during an investigation of an alleged domestic abuse report from the victim’s wife and could be sentenced to up to five years if convicted.
