Former College Park Mayor, Patrick Wojahn, pleaded guilty to 140 charges related to child pornography possession and distribution, according to prosecutors

The charges include 60 counts of distributing child pornography, 40 counts of possessing child pornography, and 40 counts of possessing child pornography with the intent to distribute, as stated in a news release from the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office on Wednesday. Patrick Wojahn’s sentencing is scheduled for November 20, and his attorney, David Moyse, has not provided any comments on the matter when CNN reached out.

The investigation into Patrick Wojahn began in February after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which indicated the distribution of child pornography in Prince George’s County.

State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County, Aisha N. Braveboy, described the case as “horrific” and expressed satisfaction that Patrick Wojahn had taken responsibility for his actions and crimes.

Patrick Wojahn served on the city council beginning in 2007 and became the mayor of College Park in 2015

The city officials were shocked and disturbed by the allegations against him at the time of his arrest.

Braveboy stated that the community had placed its faith in Patrick Wojahn to serve their best interests as elected officials, but he let them down in a disgraceful manner. She emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable children from such predators, stating that their tragedy cannot be fully understood.
