Florida Woman Arrested for Theft and Bribing Maine Correction Official to Purchase from Companies She Managed

The Florida woman arrested for bribing a Maine correction official to purchase from the companies she managed was identified as Melanie Ann High, wherein authorities discovered that the Florida woman arrested used her job as a registered agent of the companies to control how the correction official purchases items from them.

According to a report published in Fox News, the 67-year-old Florida woman arrested and the correction official spent more than $10,000 from the bribing case for almost 10 years; however, the defense team of the correction official and the Florida woman arrested refused to reveal the exact number of how much they had spent illegally.

During the investigation, authorities also discovered that the correction official, the accomplice of the Florida woman arrested in the bribing incident, had reached his spending limit with small purchases he made under the companies handled by the Florida woman arrested.

Florida Woman Arrested Faces Multiple Charges for Bribing Correction Official to Purchase from Companies She Managed

The Florida woman arrested reportedly managed five companies as a registered agent, but only three companies have been identified as part of the bribing case with the correction official, Portland Press Herald reported.

The Florida woman arrested is currently being held at a Florida jail and it is still unclear if she will be transferred to Maine to proceed with the bribing investigation.
