Lewis Ladon Spivey, 39, who had just completed the majority of a 20-year prison sentence in Florida, was apprehended and taken into custody in Alabama on June 26 after warrants were issued for two murder charges.
A recent release from a Florida prison has confessed to the brutal stabbings of a pregnant woman and her son in 2002, according to a statement by the Heflin Police Department
The Heflin Police Department described the investigation as an extensive two-decade effort involving multiple agencies. Records from the Florida Department of Corrections reveal that Spivey had been released early from prison, having been sentenced to 15 years for robbery with a gun or deadly weapon and five years for aggravated assault in 2010.
The tragic incident occurred in September 2002 when the bodies of Monica and Dalton Rollins were discovered in their residence on Sugar Hill Drive in Heflin. The authorities believe that both victims had been fatally stabbed a few days prior to their discovery.

Police stated that Spivey has provided a comprehensive confession, in which he detailed the events of that fateful day and assumed sole responsibility for the murders. However, his relationship or connection to the Rollins family remains unknown.
Heflin, Alabama, situated approximately 76 miles east of Birmingham, became the center of attention in this chilling case.
