Terry Vetsch, 60, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, according to jail records.
A Florida man has been taken into custody after he allegedly pointed a gun at a woman’s head in a disturbing incident captured on video
The incident occurred in Palm Coast when the woman’s friend, identified as Jeffrey Hinkson, briefly turned into Vetsch’s driveway. As Hinkson maneuvered his vehicle, he heard a loud noise on his rear window. Meanwhile, the woman, who remains unidentified, heard Vetsch yelling at her friend. She approached Vetsch to apologize, but the situation quickly escalated.
According to the woman’s account to the police, Vetsch pointed the gun at her head, threatening to shoot and kill her. She stated that she felt immediate fear for her life, with the gun allegedly just two inches from her head. Vetsch provided his side of the story, claiming that he mistook Hinkson for a neighbor he had previously argued with. Vetsch said he grabbed his gun when he saw the vehicle entering his driveway and confronted the driver. He alleged that the woman followed him, shouting and waving her hand aggressively.
The videos show Vetsch hitting the back window of Hinkson’s vehicle before yelling at him to keep the car out of his driveway
The woman then emerges from her home and engages in a heated exchange with Vetsch, leading to him pulling out his gun. Vetsch has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is currently in custody on a $50,000 bond. Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly commented on the incident, warning about the dangers of uncontrolled anger. Vetsch’s arraignment is scheduled for July 10.
This incident serves as a reminder of a similar and tragic occurrence earlier this year. In New York, a 20-year-old woman was fatally shot after mistakenly entering the wrong driveway while searching for a friend’s house. The homeowner, Kevin Monahan, fired his gun, resulting in the death of Kaylin Gillis.
Authorities continue to stress the importance of de-escalation and responsible handling of firearms to prevent such dangerous confrontations.
