A Florida deputy is “lucky to be alive” after being slurped into a drainage pipe

The Florida deputy was swept underwater for 30 seconds after helping a stranded driver trapped during the flood.

Escambia County, Florida, has experienced heavy rain for the few days, and rain weather conditions were at a top last Friday morning. Florida deputy William Hollingsworth was on duty patrol even during bad weather.

The Florida deputy left his patrol car and helped a man trapped in rising waters. When the Florida man got closer, he saw the man get swept underwater and swiftly rushed to him without thinking about his safety.

I almost died, said the Florida deputy

The Florida man and the man he tried to rescue were swept underwater and traveled almost 100 feet. They resurfaced on the other end of the roadway and were blessed to be safe.
