The incident occurred on February 24 at approximately 7:30 p.m. in Sanford.
Florida dad, Randy Jerome Cambridge, aged 35, has been taken into custody by the Sanford Police Department following a tragic dirt bike accident earlier this year that claimed the lives of his two young children
Florida dad Cambridge faces two charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child, and the arrest took place without any resistance in Volusia County. According to authorities, Florida dad Cambridge was operating an unregistered dirt bike in the westbound direction on Historic Goldsboro Boulevard when the collision occurred. His two children, aged two and five, were also on the bike at the time.
Tragedy struck as a truck traveling eastbound collided with the dirt bike while Florida dad Cambridge attempted a left turn. None of the involved parties were wearing helmets, and the bike lacked headlights. The impact resulted in severe injuries to Florida dad Cambridge and his children, who were immediately rushed to local hospitals. Unfortunately, both young victims succumbed to their injuries and passed away later on.
Chief Cecil Smith expressed profound grief and regret over the heartbreaking incident, stating that there was absolutely no justification for such a tragedy
He emphasized that the loss of these innocent lives could have been entirely prevented. The chief stressed that the children should never have been on the dirt bike, and the bike itself should never have been on the road.
Now, Florida dad Cambridge faces the consequences of his actions, charged with the serious offense of aggravated manslaughter of a child. The community mourns the loss of the young lives and hopes that this incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety and responsible driving on Florida’s roads.
