The confrontation ignited when a crew member of a city-owned riverboat aimed to clear a pontoon boat blocking its access to Riverfront Park around 7 p.m. on August 5. This incident was captured on social media, with a fight caught on video depicting one man pushing the crew member rapidly going viral.

The involvement of several people in the fight caught on video prompted the FBI to join the investigation, as revealed by Chief Albert during the press conference. The chaos was documented by a person recording the fight caught on video, who could be heard saying, “Help the brother!”
The police are additionally interested in interviewing Reggie Gray who was reportedly captured on video employing a folding chair during the confrontation. Chief Albert disclosed that approximately 200 people were present in the fight caught on video in a riverboat at the time of the incident. Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of filing further charges in connection with this violent episode.
