Exxon Mobil’s shale oil and gas business is facing upheaval after David Scott, the senior vice president overseeing operations, was apprehended on a sexual assault charge at a hotel in Magnolia, Texas

One of them contacted the authorities after leaving the room. David Scott, a veteran of over 26 years with Exxon, held pivotal roles in significant oil and gas ventures. Exxon spokesperson Emily Mir stated, “We are aware of the allegations and cannot comment on a personal matter; however, we can say that this individual will not continue work responsibilities as the investigation proceeds.” She emphasized the company’s commitment to high standards of integrity and conduct.

David Scott’s LinkedIn profile reflects a career that started in Australia and spanned pivotal positions in Malaysia and Abu Dhabi before leading Exxon’s Permian Basin operations in 2020

Earlier this year, David Scott was elevated to the role of senior vice president, overseeing all shale oil and gas activities. While Exxon is reportedly in advanced discussions about a potential merger with Pioneer Natural Resources, David Scott’s position as a senior vice president doesn’t necessarily involve direct participation in such negotiations. Scott is currently facing a second-degree felony assault charge and is being held on a $30,000 bond, with potential penalties ranging from two to twenty years of imprisonment for convictions of this nature in Texas.
