An officer from the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry has been terminated for supplying drugs or contraband to inmates, according to a statement by the ADCRR to 12News.
Former Correctional Officer III Berman Comon has been accused by ADCRR of distributing drugs and/or contraband within the prison complex and in the community. According to ADCRR, Comon had been working for the organization for 11 years until Jan. 3, when he was terminated from his employment.
12News was not provided with specific details by ADCRR regarding the content that Comon allegedly distributed.
“The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry (ADCRR) is proud of the dedication and professionalism exhibited by our officers on a daily basis to ensure the safety of the community, staff, and inmates,” stated ADCRR in a response to 12News. “Our mission centers around upholding the utmost standards of integrity, and we promptly and decisively take action when those standards are compromised.”
The ADCRR began investigating Comon around five months ago for alleged criminal activities. During the investigation, the department gathered evidence, including video footage, that supported the allegations against Comon. It is important to note that the inquiry solely focused on Comon and did not involve any other staff members, according to ADCRR.
