Evansville Man Marcus Deason Arrested on Arson Charges After Storage Center Fire

The arrest of Marcus Deason was made on Friday afternoon, as reported in a news release by the Evansville Fire Department.

Evansville resident Marcus Deason, aged 41, has been taken into custody on charges of arson following a fire incident at a storage center on Tippecanoe Drive

The investigation leading to Marcus Deason’s arrest was conducted jointly by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and the State Fire Marshal’s Office, with assistance from EFD investigators.

The fire broke out at Storage Express at approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday night, causing significant damage to four of the storage units out of a total of 50. Evansville firefighters promptly responded to the scene, extinguishing the flames in about an hour.

There is a possibility of smoke damage throughout the remaining parts of the structure

Authorities have confirmed that two other storage buildings in the vicinity remained unaffected by the fire.

Marcus Deason is currently held at the Vanderburgh County Jail, facing charges related to arson. Further details about the motive of Marcus Deason behind the act or any potential links to the storage center are yet to be disclosed. The investigation of Marcus Deason is ongoing, and the authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
