Disney World district under DeSantis’ leadership eliminates diversity and equity programs

In line with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ agenda, which has favored eliminating such initiatives in educational institutions and other sectors, inclusion, equity, and diversity programs were eliminated from Walt Disney World’s governing district on Tuesday. This district is now run by DeSantis appointees.

The diversity, equality, and inclusion committee will be disbanded, along with any jobs associated with them, according to a statement from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. Initiatives that granted agreements based on the achievement of racism or gender equality were also eliminated. They were carried over from the time the district was governed by Disney defenders.

Such attempts are “illegal and simply un-American,” according to Glenton Gilzean, the district’s new administrator who is an African American and a former leader of the Central Florida Urban League.
