Detroit Man arrested, setting gas station on fire – Trapped clerk treated for first degree burns

An unidentified Detroit man was caught on the act setting fire to a gas station while an attending clerk was inside. The man was seen holding a blowtorch as he entered the vicinity of the convenience store.

Based on the article found on Fox News, the act of violence was caught on camera on June 20, Tuesday at about 2:50 a.m., the footage revealed the alleged arsonist entering the gas station, a blue blowtorch clutched in his right hand while dumping the trash bin’s contents on the floor.

Wearing shorts and a white T-shirt, the pyromaniac can be seen speaking to someone, supposing the clerk, outside the video’s frame, at the West Seven Mile Road. The suspect then pointed to the pile of trash, uttering something  to the clerk before bending down to set the garbage on fire with the blowtorch.

As soon as a burst of red flames engulfed the ceiling and spread in less than two seconds all throughout the room. The man from Detroit immediately flees the scene as he stands halfway out the door, based on the surveillance video.

Leaving behind the attending clerk who was rushed to a local hospital to get treated for first degree burns. Luckily, no critical injury was experienced by the clerk, according to a statement released from the Detroit Police Department. 

 

Identity Not Yet Released…

The identity of the perpetrator remains unknown as he was arrested on Wednesday, officials announced.
