Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma disclosed a tragic incident in Sanford, Florida, where a mother, 31-year-old Catorreia Hutto, took her own life by leaping from Lake Jesup Bridge

Upon retrieving Hutto’s lifeless body from the river, authorities visited her residence on Alexander Avenue, encountering no response. Forced entry revealed a devastating scene – Hutto’s 5-year-old twins, Ahmed and Ava Jackson, were found deceased within the home.

Sheriff Dennis Lemma expressed, “Mom jumps off the bridge, commits what is obviously now a suicide and what looks to be a homicide contained within this house.” Although a firearm and ammunition were discovered on-site, the children bore no gunshot wounds. Dennis Lemma clarified, “It does not appear to be blunt trauma. It doesn’t appear that they’re the victims of gunfire.”

In the absence of physical trauma, investigators await toxicology reports for insights into the cause of the children’s passing

Sheriff Dennis Lemma described the scene as resembling “two innocent 5-year-olds sleeping.” Hutto’s friend shared a photograph of the family, shedding light on their lives.

It has come to light that Hutto had received her home from the Seminole-Apopka Habitat for Humanity charity organization about a year before the incident. The residence, however, lacked adequate provisions, hinting at the financial struggles faced by the family. While Hutto had no prior record of violence, her lifelong battle with mental health issues is noted.

Sanford, a city in central Florida, with a population of around 61,000, now grapples with the profound sadness of this tragedy.
