In current times, a multibillion-dollar power investor actively promoting a sizable offshore wind proposal delivered hundreds of thousands of dollars to the campaign of Democratic Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine.
Dominion Energy’s political action committee (PAC), with headquarters in Richmond, Virginia, has donated $23,000 to Kaine for Virginia throughout 2011, with the most recent donation of $1,500 arriving in February. Dominion Energy contributed an additional $44,500 to Common Ground PAC, the Kaine-affiliated and led leadership PAC, during that period.
Employees from Dominion Energy, including CEO Robert Blue, Senior Vice President William Murray, and others, have given $19,600 to Kaine’s campaign until 2021. The campaign received funds from lobbyists that Dominion had hired approximately $3,000 at that similar time.
According to Ryan Frazier, a representative for Dominion Energy, “Dominion Energy supports in full disclosure of its political donations,” to Fox News Digital. We donate to an independent mix of federal and state leaders, and we have backed Sen. Kaine ever since his unsuccessful candidacy for lieutenant governor in 2001 while he was still the mayor of the city where Dominion Energy is situated.
