In a recent development, Damarco Watkins, a 29-year-old Chicago resident, has been formally charged with attempted murder in connection with a highway shooting incident that occurred on Interstate 57 in November 2022.
Illinois State Police, following an extensive investigation, apprehended Damarco Watkins on Thursday, marking a significant breakthrough in the case
The incident unfolded on the northbound lanes of I-57 near 99th Street, where Damarco Watkins allegedly brandished a firearm and discharged multiple rounds at a motorist, resulting in injuries to the driver. Fortunately, the victim’s injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, and they were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.
Damarco Watkins now faces a litany of charges, including attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
These charges were formally presented in court on Friday, with a bond set at $350,000 for the accused
