Reports indicate that two assailants brandishing high-powered automatic rifles accosted Williams and his mother as they were getting into their vehicle.
In a startling incident, DA Jason Williams, backed by George Soros in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, faced a harrowing carjacking on Monday night in New Orleans
Thankfully, both DA Jason Williams and his mother remained unharmed. The New Orleans Police Department was quick to respond, ultimately recovering the stolen black Lincoln Navigator in the uptown part of the city. During an interview with FOX 8, DA Jason Williams noted that the armed suspects, who did not appear to be juveniles, seized their vehicle and belongings, though he refrained from specifying the items taken. The incident was a grim reminder of the persistent violence plaguing the city, which DA Jason Williams had previously expressed concern about.
Just half a mile away from the DA’s carjacking, the same suspects targeted a 22-year-old woman in another carjacking, according to police. Should any arrests be made in connection with these crimes, DA Jason Williams intends to recuse himself and his office, with the case to be handled by the criminal division of Attorney General Jeff Landry’s office.
DA Jason Williams was elected in 2020 on a platform advocating social justice reform and alternatives to incarceration for some offenders
However, his approach has been criticized for a decline in accountability for violent felony offenders, with nearly two-thirds of such cases being dismissed during his initial months in office, as per a 2022 analysis by the Metropolitan Crime Commission. The DA maintains that being selective about prosecutions is necessary to address the city’s pressing crime concerns.
