Court documents reveal that Joseph Findley is now facing federal charges, including those related to terrorist activities and attacks against railroad carriers, which have rocked the Cleveland community.
In a significant turn of events, Joseph Findley, a 43-year-old Cleveland resident, was apprehended by FBI agents on Friday, on suspicion of plotting to derail a passenger train
Joseph Findley’s arrest took place at his Cleveland residence on Friday, a critical development in the ongoing investigation. According to an affidavit submitted by a specialized FBI agent, Joseph Findley stands accused of inserting metal fragments into a rail switch and strategically positioning train spikes with the malicious intent of causing a train derailment. The affidavit asserts that a CSX train collided with the obstructed rail switch, causing a temporary shift in its wheels off the track.
This obstruction came to light during a test run that was being conducted in preparation for a friends and family event scheduled for the following day, resulting in estimated repair costs of $10,000 and necessitating a rerouting of the Family Days train ride, as detailed in court documents
Consequently, the FBI executed a search warrant at Findley’s residence on the same day as his arrest. Joseph Findley reportedly admitted to the FBI that he had deliberately placed railroad spikes on the tracks on multiple occasions. Court documents confirm that Joseph Findley will remain in custody until his upcoming hearing, as authorities redouble their efforts to ensure the safety and security of the region’s railroad transportation. The Cleveland community watches closely as this investigation unfolds, concerned about the potential risks posed by such actions.
