Suburban regions close to Chicago and New York City are grumbling regarding how Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s unconventional solution to the immigration issue—busing people north—affects their infrastructure and resources.
The act began as a protest the previous year when Governor Abbott began transferring migrants to various northern locations because he disagreed with the federal government’s handling of illegal immigration. Nowadays, local governments—particularly those in cities outside of Chicago, New Jersey, and New York City—are attempting to find out how to accommodate these immigrants.
In December, a record number of people—more than 300,000—were apprehended for unlawfully entering the country from the south.
