Ardis Prez is currently in Metro Jail, facing charges related to the shooting deaths of two Mississippi men, Dwan Williams Jr. and Andre Carter.
In a significant development in an unsolved double murder case, an arrest has been made nearly two years after the tragic incident took place
The victims, Williams and Carter, were discovered lifeless inside an SUV on Rangeline Road in November 2021. Investigators assert that a confrontation at a Prichard nightclub led to the fatal shooting. Alonzo Lawrence, a family member of Dwan Williams, expressed his astonishment upon learning of the arrest through FOX10 News, as he had almost lost hope of ever seeing justice served in the long-standing double murder case.
Lawrence shared his initial disbelief, stating, “When I first found out, I thought it was like a joke for real. I thought it would never be solved. We’re still sad about the situation, but it’s almost like a celebration because his mom, is taking it hard, and this will help the grandma out a lot.”
Prez remained silent during his transfer to Metro Jail on an early Monday afternoon. According to the District Attorney’s Office, Prez was apprehended in California just last Tuesday and then extradited to Mobile.
Prez has claimed that he has no ties to Alabama and has not made any trips to the state, further complicating the double murder case investigation
Surveillance footage obtained by FOX10 News captures the scene on the night of November 21, 2021, shortly after 3 a.m. The footage shows an SUV making a U-turn in the middle of Rangeline Road, just south of I-10, before coming to an abrupt stop in the northbound lanes. Moments later, three individuals exit the vehicle and walk away. Tragically, both Andre Carter and Dwan Williams were found deceased in the car.
Family members suggest that Dwan Williams’ budding career as a rapper may have triggered the violent incident. Alonzo Lawrence commented, “It was shocking for him to even be out at a club. He doesn’t go out. He doesn’t do stuff like that. Also when he left the show, that’s when he was plugged down. I feel like rapping kind of threw him off a little bit…that indeed started the situation.” Ardis Prez is presently being held without bail, with a censure listed for Tuesday morning in this unfolding double murder case.
