Bike thefts increase in Boulder as students prepare to return to the new school year on campus.
Bike thefts are on the upsurge in Boulder!
Forty-five bikes, valued at $103,000, were involved in bike thefts in the past 30 days, according to the Police Department.
Boulder Police Department said most bike thefts transpired between the 21st and 30th streets. Bike Thefts are also high at Arapahoe Avenue to Pearl Street corridor. Police Officer Mitch Trujillo said how you lock up your bicycle to avoid being a victim of bike theft is just as important as where you lock it up.
Officer Trujillo said the bike thefts happened to two things, residents leaving their bikes unattended and using futile cable locks. That’s why the Manager at Full Cycle Boulder said spending money on a quality lock to avoid bike thefts is worth the investment.
