‘Black National Anthem’ prompts reactions from the NFL community

The Star-Spangled Banner is usually performed to start the celebrations before NFL football matches and other athletic events across the nation. But throughout the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions’ season-opening battle on Thursday night, another extremely important and significant song was performed in addition to the national anthem of the United States.

Thursday night’s performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by the Kansas City Boys and Girls Choir came before the standard playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The song, which many people lovingly refer to as “The Black National Anthem,” was utilized extensively throughout the Civil Rights Movement and is a significant component of Black culture in America.

The social media world had a lot to say regarding it following the performance of a wonderful song, with many individuals criticizing anyone who might criticize the NFL for permitting the celebration of Black culture.
