In a surge that risked including major world powers in the Gaza disputes, US forces in the Middle East fell under assault on Thursday night from militias that were allegedly supported by Iran.
Additionally, the US Navy claimed to have shot down drones and missiles fired from Yemen that were “probably directed against targets in Israel.”
Attacks on US military bases in Iraq and Syria raised concerns that Iran was assembling allies to fight the West, which supports Israel in its conflict with Hamas.
Israel informed its troops that they would shortly be able to see Gaza “from inside” as forces gathered on the border in preparation for an anticipated ground invasion.
