Two IRS informants appeared before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, claiming that the Justice Department manipulated the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden. Their allegations have sparked outrage among Republicans.
At the hearing, a single of the 2 whistleblowers, Joseph Ziegler, a 13-year IRS special officer with the criminal inquiry Division, revealed his identity to the general public for the very first time.
Ziegler testified that he saw federal prosecutors go over the boundaries of the law, supporting the allegations of another whistleblower Gary Shapley that IRS agents suggested prosecuting Hunter Biden with much more serious offenses than those to which the president’s son has already accepted a plea of guilty.
According to what he observed, the US attorney in Delaware who was involved in the inquiry looked to be continually limited, restricted, and marginalized by DOJ authorities alongside other US attorneys, Ziegler stated.
