As reported by a new study, the most dangerous drugs in the United Kingdom

The Abbeycare Foundation, a UK residential treatment service, used ONS statistics to determine the percentage of drug poisoning deaths every 1,000,000 persons in 2021.

In 2021, cocaine will be the drug that causes the most drug poisoning, accounting for 29.2 deaths for every 1,000,000 persons. From 1994 to 2021, the number of deaths from cocaine poisoning increased by 459% among women and by 340% for men. Chest pain, anxiety, and shivering are some symptoms of a cocaine overdose. Additionally, combining cocaine and alcohol increases the risk of having a stroke by speeding up the heart rate and high blood pressure.

Antidepressants come in second; in the United Kingdom, drug poisoning resulted in 21.1 deaths for every 1,000,000 individuals. SSRIs are frequently prescribed to treat illnesses like depression, OCD, and generalized anxiety disorder. While these medications are safe when taken in the recommended dosage, exceeding it might cause toxicity.
