The Kansas City Star, citing reliable sources including a KU athletics department official, confirmed the suspension on Friday evening.
Arterio Morris, a men’s basketball guard, has been suspended from the Kansas program following an accusation of rape
The reported incident took place in an on-campus residence hall, which houses members of the Kansas men’s basketball team. While Arterio Morris was not directly named in the incident report, teammates Johnny Furphy and Elmarko Jackson were listed as witnesses, alongside a mention of Nick Timberlake, a transfer from Towson.
As of now, no warrant has been issued for Arterio Morris’s arrest, and no charges have been filed. The case remains under investigation, according to the Douglas County District Attorney’s office.
Arterio Morris joined Kansas after completing his freshman season at Texas, where he grappled with off-court issues
Last June, he faced legal trouble after an alleged altercation with his ex-girlfriend, resulting in a Class A misdemeanor assault charge. Ultimately, Arterio Morris entered a no-contest plea and paid a $362 fine. Despite this charge, he participated in all 38 games for the Longhorns, contributing an average of 4.6 points per game as a reserve last season.
Neither Kansas coach Bill Self nor Arterio Morris’s agent, Chris Gaston, provided comments when contacted by the Star. This report is brought to you by ABG-SI LLC. All Rights Reserved. Use of this site indicates acceptance of our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
