Jiwani stands accused of committing a heinous act against her own newborn baby

On the night of June 6, 2019, two teenagers heard what they believed to be the cries of a baby coming from the nearby woods. Alarmed by the sound, they alerted their father, and together they began searching the area. Their efforts led them to the discovery of a newborn baby girl, wrapped in a plastic bag, with her umbilical cord still attached.

Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman expressed his disbelief and outrage at the incident during the press conference, describing how the child had been callously discarded in the woods “like a bag of trash.” The baby, named “India” by the authorities, was immediately rushed to a local hospital and has since made remarkable progress in her recovery. Sheriff Freeman referred to Jiwani as India’s “biological parent” rather than her mother, as he struggled to comprehend how someone could commit such a heartless act against their own child.

After months of surveillance and data collection, the detectives were able to link Jiwani to the crime and make the arrest

With the assistance of Othram Labs, the sheriff’s office was able to identify India’s birth parents and subsequently focused their investigation on Jiwani. It has been revealed that Jiwani has a history of concealing her pregnancies and had previous instances of surprise births. At the time of her arrest, she was living with her other children, who are now under the care of the Department of Children and Families.

Sheriff Freeman expressed his deep sadness and emphasized that no motive could justify Jiwani’s actions. The deputy who rescued baby India was among the officers involved in Jiwani’s arrest, and the sheriff noted that the same handcuffs used to save the child were used to apprehend the suspect. Jiwani now remains in custody without bond, awaiting further legal proceedings.
