Arizona authorities made a recent arrest in Phoenix when they apprehended a man suspected of smuggling more than 550 pounds of cocaine through the state en route to Canada.
According to a news release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), the suspect in question, a 31-year-old man named Amarjeet Singh Matharu, allegedly concealed the cocaine inside produce boxes.
According to DPS, the cocaine he was supposedly transporting weighed 553.8 pounds and had an estimated street value ranging from $16.6 million to $22.1 million.

Matharu was arrested on Monday while he was driving on the Interstate 40 in Holbrook, an eastern Arizona city about 186 miles north of Phoenix, according to authorities.
According to authorities, the state trooper concluded that the tractor-trailer driven by Matharu needed to be searched because it displayed several signs of criminal activity.
Matharu was taken into custody and held at the Navajo County Jail.
During the investigation, it was discovered that he was attempting to transport the drugs from California to Canada.
