The incident unfolded during a football banquet held for his son, as captured in a video shared on his X account, which was formerly known as Twitter.
Ammon Bundy, a far-right activist who recently ran an unsuccessful campaign for governor against Republican Idaho Gov. Brad Little, has reportedly been taken into custody due to an outstanding warrant
Deputies were seen handcuffing Ammon Bundy and leading him out of the banquet hall. A plea for support was issued through his social media account, urging people to gather at the Gem County Sheriff’s office in Emmett.
According to KTVB, Ammon Bundy was arrested at a fundraiser for Emmett High School’s football team on charges of contempt. These charges stem from his legal clash with St. Luke’s Health System. The arrest was made on Friday night, and as of Saturday, Ammon Bundy remains incarcerated at the Gem County Jail. A sergeant from the sheriff’s office revealed that Ammon Bundy’s bail was set at $10,000 and remained unpaid.
If bail is not posted, he is scheduled to appear before a judge in Gem County on Monday and then be transferred to Ada County
The arrest warrant was issued by District Judge Lynn Norton, alleging that Bundy violated orders related to witness harassment and intimidation concerning a lawsuit with St. Luke’s Regional Health. The legal battle was a result of Ammon Bundy and his associates accusing the hospital of child trafficking and harassing medical personnel. The hospital ultimately won a judgment of over $50 million in damages. This incident follows Ammon Bundy’s history of activism, including leading an armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in 2016 and participating in protests against COVID-19 measures at the Idaho State House.
