After Beating LSU, The Aggies Were Fined for Rushing the Field, Breaking the Competition Area Policy!

  • The Southeastern Conference punished Texas A&M University for supporters entering the field after their football game against Louisiana State University on Saturday, November 26.
  • Third offenses under the league’s access to competition area policy will cost Texas A&M $250,000. Texas A&M was last punished after its 2021 football game versus Alabama. The SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund receives fines for access to competition area violations.
  • “Access to competition areas shall be limited to competing student-athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel, and properly-credentialed individuals at all times,” the regulation adds. No spectators are allowed in the competition area before, during, or after a contest for safety. Each member institution must adopt measures to assure policy compliance.”
  • All Conference-sponsored sports have financial penalties. Institutional sanctions range from $50,000 for a first transgression to $100,000 for a second and $250,000 for consecutive offenses.
  • The 2004 Conference vote established the policy, and the 2015 SEC Spring Meetings enhanced financial penalties. This month, the SEC announced that a working committee on event security will evaluate and adjust policies to handle post-game spectator encroachment on competition fields and courts for the 2023-24 sports year.
  • Coach Jimbo Fisher praised his seniors and Aggie supporters after the game. Happy for seniors and players. They persevered through many hardships to achieve their goals. “Proud of them and our fans,” Fisher said. “They played well here. Very proud of these seniors to win their final game at Kyle Field in a tough situation.
