Officials in Brooklyn claim that when a family of 8 people—6 of them were children—was inside his rental property, the 66-year-old owner set it on fire. The burning and tried to murder are the charges brought against the landlord.

They said that when they discontinued paying the rent, he got angry and wouldn’t go.

Bedford-Stuyvesant resident Rafiqul Islam showed up for court and was charged on a 59-count accusation. Due to his significant accusations, which include first-degree attempted murder, for which he may get a term of twenty-five years or more in prison, he was instructed to be held without bond. He is also accused of several counts of harming the welfare of others as well as violence in the first instance.
